According to Loup Ventures, there will be an uptick in upgrades for current iPhone users. According to their survey, 48% of current iPhone owners are intending on upgrading to a new iPhone. More specifically, these owners intend on getting one of the latest models. There are three new models coming out next year, so we thought we would help you pick the best new iPhone model that fits your needs. If you have an Android phone, don’t worry, we haven’t left you out. According to the same survey, 1 out of 5 Android phone owners are switching to new iPhones too.

We know that there are three rumored iPhones coming out. We don’t know their names, so we will use temporary names based on their most distinctive features.

iPhone X: Same Size, Same Look, But Upgraded Components

The iPhone X is the biggest jump in design within the last three generations of iPhones. The biggest departure from previous models is the screen size (a bezel-less 5.8-inch OLED display with a top notch for the camera) and the lack of a home button. The iPhone X does away with the home button altogether and introduces all new gestures, as well as Face ID for authentication.

The X Plus: Biggest Screen Yet

Another X model will reportedly come with a 6.5-inch OLED bezel-free screen—which would be the biggest screen Apple has ever put in an iPhone—as well as Face ID, stainless steel edges, a glass back, and dual cameras.

The Goldilocks: Medium Size, Medium Price

We call this one the Goldilocks, not too hot, not too cold—just right. It will have a 6.1-inch LCD, bezel-free screen, Face ID, glass back, and aluminum edges, meaning it will basically look and function like a slightly larger iPhone X, but cheaper materials should give it a lower price point. In keeping costs down, Apple will reportedly only include a single camera on the LCD device, making it look a lot like a premium version of an iPhone 8. In addition to a lower price, the LCD device might also mean more choice of color. According to well respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the LCD device will come in a range of colors, including grey, white, blue, red, and orange. The OLED devices, Kuo says, will come in black, silver, and gold.

Breaking It Down

Basically, the model with the 6.5-inch screen is the true upgrade from an iPhone X. If you want the latest and greatest from Apple, that will be your go-to phone to purchase. The Goldilocks would still be an upgrade from an iPhone 8 with a price tag that fits into the budget of most iPhone users. The biggest complaint about the iPhone X was the price tag and this gets most of those upgraded features at a price you are used to.
